Advocacy Dialogue on GBV Reduction Held in Bangladesh
With the support of FON-CREA, USA, Nice Foundation organized a day-long Advocacy Dialogue today May 14, 2026 focused on the roles of various stakeholders in reducing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Bangladesh. The event was graced by the presence of Additional Divisional Commissioner Abu Sayed Monjurul Alam as the Chief Guest. Participants included representatives from various departments such as DIG, DDLG, DDFP, and the Department of Women Affairs, alongside leaders from NGOs, members of the SoWFeN Community-Based Organizations, and representatives from both electronic and print media. The dialogue also featured lawyers, academicians, transgender individuals, UNO representatives, Union Parishad members, GBV survivors, and young community leaders, totaling about 50 attendees. The event was expertly moderated by Mamun Akhtar, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Betar Khulna, with Dr. Anjum Tasnuva from KUET presenting insightful keynote papers. Discussion points included comparisons of GBV issues in Bangladesh with those in other countries, leading to several recommendations put forth by the guests.
This initiative underscores the collective effort required from all sectors of society to address and combat the pressing issue of GBV in Bangladesh.
